Crispy, crunchy potato patties stuffed with a perfectly balanced sweet and savory coconut mixture. The perfect bites of this Indori appetizer, Khopra Patties, will make you crave more.
This dish pairs well with sweet tamarind dates chutney, green coriander mint chutney, and fresh crunchy salad.

I have some beautiful memories of Indore. We roamed around Rajbada while midnight snacking on delicious street food.
Sampling fantastic chaat and patties in the Chappan area was just an amazing experience. We tried and tested so many dishes and loved each one.
Khopra Patties was one such item that made us spellbound with its taste.
What Are Khopra Patties?
Indori Patties are potato patties filled with an herb—and dry fruit-infused coconut stuffing. These heavenly-tasting, crunchy bites are really easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

What Ingredients Are Needed?
- Potatoes
- Coconut Flakes
- Poppy Seeds
- Cashews
- Raisins
- Red Chili Powder
- Green Chili
- Lemon Juice
- Salt
- Grated Ginger
- Cilantro Leaves
- Bread Crumbs
- Corn Starch
- Oil
How to Make Khopra Patties
1—The first step is to boil potatoes and grate them. Grating ensures a smooth texture. Then, mix grated potatoes with cornstarch and bread crumbs. Knead it properly to make a smooth dough.
2—The second step is to prepare a wonderful coconut flake, herb, and spice mix. We will add poppy seeds, broken cashews, raisins, red chili powder, green chili, lemon juice, cilantro leaves, grated ginger, and salt.
3—After that, make a flat potato mixture patty on your palm and stuff the coconut mixture into it. Then, make a smooth, round ball.
4- Fry/air-fry all the balls until they are crispy and golden. Lastly, serve them with salad and chutney.
Can You Prepare Them Ahead of Time?
Prepare the patties in advance, then keep them in an airtight container in the fridge. You can keep them like this for 2-3 days in the fridge and around two weeks in the freezer. Thaw them before you fry them. Thawing in the fridge and using freezer-safe containers is important to maintain the freshness and crunch of the patties.

Hi Smita. Have you tried baking them in regular oven? If yes then what temperature and how long? I don't have an air fryer
Hi Akshada,
I have not tried this particular recipe in the oven ,reason being air frying takes less time and feels more crispy .
However based based on my orevious experience ofbaking cutlets ,375 f is suitable temperature .Time can vary between 20 to 30 minutes ,depending on the size of patties and the oven .
do let me know how did go .
hope it helps ,
Thank you.
Thank you Smita. Will try on weekend. Recipe looks so yummy. I liked idea of not frying it.
Hi Smita. I tried baking these in my oven. I baked them at 400F for 25 minutes straight out of the freezer. So maybe if they are at room temperature or from fridge lesser temperature will also do. Also I made one change to them . I used sweet potato for outer covering instead of potato. They came out soooo yummy. They were a big hit at my house. Thanks for the yummy recipe. This will definitely be on my list for parties and weekends
Thats amazing dear .Using sweet potato is just an amazing idea. Really appreciate your kind feedback.
