Turmeric Cumin Rice

Beautiful vibrant yellow colored rice with the amazing properties of turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon. A fragrant and delicious side dish. Great with any type of curry or lentil dish. Vegan and gluten free.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cups Basmati Rice
  • 3 Cups Water
  • 1 Tbsp Oil/Ghee
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Inch Cinnamon Stick
  • ¼ Tsp Salt
  • ½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Cilantro

Method
 

  1. Wash rice in running cold water. Drain the water and spread the rice on a plate lined with paper towel. Leave it for 15 minutes.
  2. Turn on the saute button of instant pot on. Add oil/ghee to it .
  3. When it displays hot, add cumin seeds and cinnamon stick to it. Let them crackle .
  4. Add rice to it. Saute it for 1 minute. Add salt and turmeric to it. Saute again so that turmeric and oil can coat the rice grains nicely.
  5. Add water to it. Stir it once and close the lid.
  6. Cancel the saute button on. Turn the valve to seal in position and cook on high pressure for 6 minutes.
  7. Let it release the pressure naturally .
  8. Remove the lid after pressure is released naturally. Fluff it with a fork .
  9. Serve it with any side or enjoy it by itself .
  10. Enjoy .
