Makki Ki Roti

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cup Maize Flour/Yellow Sweet Corn Flour from Indian Grocery Stores.
  • ½ Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee/Oil

Method
 

  1. Take a big pan and add water to it .Let the water come to the boil.
  2. Add turmeric powder and salt to the water.
  3. When it starts boiling add maize flour to it.
  4. Whisk the flour with a baloon whisker to make a smooth tight batter.
  5. Remove it in a big mixing bowl or plate.
  6. add ghee /oil to the dough and some to your palm.
  7. Knead the dough nicely to make a smooth dough .Knead it when it is still warm.
  8. Make a smooth round ball and cover it with a wet towel.
  9. Take a griddle or tawa ,heat it on the stove.
  10. After rolling the dough cook the roti on griddle on both sides.
  11. Press the roti with a soft cloth which will ensure a puffed roti with a little bit of practice.
  12. To give it a more authentic char effect cook it on both sides on a direct flame. It should not be more than a few seconds.
  13. Brush some ghee or place a dollop of butter and serve to enjoy.
