- Turn the saute button of the Instant Pot on. Add ghee/oil to it.When it displays hot add whole spices like cumin seeds,bay leaves,cinnamon sticks.Let them crackle.
- Add chopped garlic,onion ,ginger and green chili.
- Saute till it looks transparent and raw smell is gone.
- Add chopped tomato ,salt ,turmeric powder,red chili powder to the pot.
- Add washed moong dal to it and saute along with everything else.
- After sauteeing for 30 seconds or 1 minute add water to the pot .Stir once and close the lid.
- Cancel the saute button and cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.
- Let the steam come out after 4 minutes.
- Whisk the dal (if you want a smooth preparation) leave just like that if you like texture grainy.
- Taste the dal to adjust the salt and add lime juice ,cilantro at this time.
- Enjoy with rice or roti or just like soup.
