Cauliflower is the latest trending vegetable on the world food map. Instagram is full of cauliflower recipes, many known, few unknown. Since cauliflower -or gobhi as we call it in India- is quite a popular vegetable in our country and we take pride in creating a few beautiful recipes of it. We have loved, created and cherished these recipes for generations. Gobhi 65 is one of them.

Gobhi 65 is a spicy recipe which is originally from South India but equally popular in every part of the country. Cauliflower florets are parboiled and then a thin light coating of corn flour, all purpose flour and a few spices. Then it is deep fried. We can always air fry it but traditional recipe calls for deep frying.

Recipe for Air Fryer–

Grill it on 370 for 15 minutes. Time can vary depending on size of cauliflower or your air fryer.



Cauliflower medium size-1 (around two cups of florets)

All purpose flour/maida-3 tbsp

Corn flour-4 tbsp

Ginger -Garlic paste -1 1/2 tsp

Garam masala-1/2 tsp

Black pepper powder-1/3 tsp

Red chilli powder-1 tsp

Curry leaves- one tbsp

Salt-According to your taste.

Water for binding /mixing.

Oil for deep frying.


Green chillies-1-2 slit.

Garlic-2 cloves

Curry leaves- few

Red chilli powder/Kashmiri chilli powder.

Cumin-1/2 tsp

3 table spoon curd beaten properly.

Garam masala-1/2 tsp

Salt according to your taste.

Take a big deep pan. Add 5 cups of water. Add 1 tsp each of turmeric and salt. Just parboil it for 2-3 minutes.

In a bowl take, all-purpose flour, salt, red chilli, ginger garlic paste and garam masala. Make a thick batter.

Add cauliflower to the batter. Coat them well. If you need to add more water, feel free.

Deep fry all the cauliflower.For air fried version grill on 370 for 15 minutes.If you don’t want tadka then totally skip it and have the air fried version only.

Set it aside on a kitchen towel.

Now take a frying pan/wok.

Add oil.

Add garlic, chilli, curry leaves and cumin seeds. Fry for a minute.

Add yoghurt, chilli powder and garam masala.

Stir it and add cauliflower.

Saute for a minute or two.

Seve hot.

This will make two servings.
