Two cups of rice
1/2 cup of green peas
1/2 cup onion finely sliced
1 table spoon of desi ghee or clarified butter
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
2-3 bay leaf
1-2 black cardamom
1 stick of Cinnamon
In a deep pan, add ghee.
Then add whole spices.
Let them crackle.
Add finely sliced onions.
Saute and then add rice.
Saute for 3-4 minutes.
Add 4 cups of water for 2 cups of rice.
Keep the flame high and let it come to a boiling point.
Then reduce the flame to low. Keep it covered. Rice will be ready in 8-10 minutes. Check it once and switch off the flame.
Your fragrant Peas Pulao is ready. Serve it with any curry or dal.
MASOOR DAL TADKA—
Take one cup of Masoor Dal to clean it and in a pressure cooker cook it with 3 cups of water and a pinch of turmeric and salt.
Add 1/2 tomato into it. (finely sliced)
Cover it and wait for the whistle. Stay alert, and switch off the flame after one whistle. For good masoor dal which is not lumpy in texture, it’s really important.
Take 1 table spoon of ghee.
Add one dry red chilli
Pinch of cumin seeds
Pinch of asafoetida.
Garlic finely chopped
A pinch of Kashmiri red chilli powder(optional)
Let it crackle and then mix it with the dal.
Serve it with rice or roti.
This is one of the easiest dal to make and taste wise you cannot beat that garlic flavour. One of my favourites. Do try this.
